Winter Porridge

Poached pears and apples with hazelnut chocolate spread 
Time to snuggle up with a warm bowl of yummy goodness!

Ingredients for 1 serve

  • A few Apples and Pears
  • Star Anise
  • Cinnamon Quills
  • Cardamon Pods
  • Vanilla Bean
  • 1/2 cup of Winter Porridge
  • 2 tbsp of Tierra’s signature Hazelnut and Italian chocolate spread

Method

  • In this recipe I used a few small apples, one pear and one half eaten apple my daughter brought back from lunch boxes!
  • Peel them all and place in a pot with water covering only 1/3 of them. (this is like if you were the fruits standing up, you will have water just over your knees)
  • Add a couple of star anise, 5 cardamom pods, 1/2 vanilla bean and one cinnamon quill (double the amount for more fruit or stronger flavour) and let boil with the lid on for around 20 min.
  • When cooled, find the vanilla bean, open lengthwise with a pointy knife and take all the vanilla seeds and add in the liquid. You can leave the fruits in the liquid and save them in the fridge for endless uses.
  • Place winter porridge in a bowl, pour hot water and leave rest for 4 minutes. Stir a couple of times to allow the oats to absorb the water well.
  • Place a few fruits on top, and two good scoops of the Tierras signature Hazelnut and Italian chocolate spread. Enjoy!!!
